WAIT! Hold on! Before you scroll past this blog post.. hear me out. I feel the need to clarify: when I say "Detox Water" I don't mean "You're not allowed to eat anything for 48 hours and you are only supposed to drink this water." Ok?? So you can calm down now. I make this and keep it in our fridge in replace of sugary drinks or tea. It's good with anything, at any time! This is a GREAT drink to have on hand whether you're trying to steer clear of soda OR you're trying to flush out any toxins hanging around in your system. Put your learning hats on here people, I'm about to not only tell you how to make this refreshing concoction but also tell you why it's so good for you! Alright.. are you ready? This one's prettttttttty difficult. Here is what you'll need: -A Beverage Dispenser of some kind (pitcher, serving dispenser, large cup…) |
-1 Cucumber
-1 Lemon
-1 Bunch of Mint Leaves
-H20
Here's what you do:
1.) Cut up the cucumber & lemon, toss into pitcher.
2.) Fill pitcher with water, mix together, and voila! You're done!
Note: Prepare the water the night before you're ready to drink it. This way, when you wake up it will be FULL of flavor and everything will be infused into the water.
Another Note: If your pitcher of water lasts more than a day (ours never does because we drink so much so fast), scoop out the cucumber, lemon, & mint after about 24 hours. All of the nutrients will be infused in the water at this point anyway and you will avoid any bacteria or mold growth on the fruits and veggies. Yuck.

Lemons: Lemon juice helps stimulate and regulate the digestive track. According to the Budwig Center Blog, "raw lemon juice is known for its antioxidants and anti-tumor properties and has been used for centuries in order to cure many ailments. Being rich in Vitamin C, it is also essential for maintaining a fully functional immune system, aiding digestion, fighting tumors, helping wounds to heal faster, and can even help to prevent heart failure." Um… should the saying actually be "a lemon a day keeps the doctor away?" Sorry apples.
Last but not least…
Mint Leaves: Mint can help relax cramped up stomach muscles. Not to mention, it adds a refreshing kick to the detox water! AND… according to Medical News Today, mint has one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any food. Do you know what antioxidants do? They help you age gracefully. Yep you heard me. Antioxidants help your body fight free radicals, thereby promoting healthy aging!
I meaaaaannnnnnnnn, ultimately, you shouldn't be living, breathing, or walking without this water. AMIRIGHT or AMIRIGHTTTTTT. There are like 9238923479 different ways you can infuse water… what have you tried? Whats your favorite combination of flavors?! Try it. Eat it. Love it. And let me know! xox, L |
